ALL PROFITS ARE GOING TO THE ‘FOR THE LOVE OF THE REEF’ CAMPAIGN TO SAVE THE REEF FROM GLOBAL WARMING AND STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR LAND, WATER AND FUTURE BY AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST COAL AND GAS PROJECTS.
For the Love of the Reef
is a collective project of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network.
The Great Barrier Reef is colourful, playful and teeming with life.
For over 60,000 years Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from the reef coast have continued to protect their sacred Sea Country and have a vast knowledge of the Reef often shared through dreamtime stories. 70,000 people rely on a healthy #GreatBarrierReef for work; it’s a World Heritage Area and wonder of the world.
It also represents what we stand to lose if we don’t take action on climate change. A warming world threatens many of the places we love and rely on – including the Reef.
While people around the world feel the impacts of climate change for their homes, livelihoods and cultures, and as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are being moved off their homelands, wealthy mining companies continue to profit from making the problem worse.
Companies want to dig massive coal mines in Queensland, and frack huge parts of the Northern Territory – fuelling more global warming and pushing the Reef over the edge.
But we’re not going to let them.
We’re building a powerful movement to stand up to the wealthy fossil fuel companies that threaten our future and places like the Reef.
By giving up something you love for two weeks, together we’ll raise vital funds to stop corporations and politicians from destroying the Reef and sacred country and polluting our planet.
Your support will drive creative, powerful and hard-hitting tactics that pressure decision makers to protect our future from climate change by shifting Australia to a renewable energy future.
The AYCC and Seed make Australia’s largest youth-run organisation, with a proven track record in influencing decision makers and winning campaigns.
You’ll be supporting campaigns that enable young people to lead solutions for themselves and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to stand up to fossil fuel companies.
The power to save the Reef is in our hands. Together, we will raise funds and awareness to stop Adani’s coal mine and ban fracking in the NT.
